This time, Christian Muñiz was chosen to take this step, as the player was officially signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, a team with whom he had been in talks since 2022. He even had the opportunity to train at their facilities in the Dominican Republic for a few weeks.

Christian Muñiz emerges as a local talent in his hometown

His full name is Christian Alberto Muñiz Morales. He was born on August 16, 2006, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, and he is currently 17 years old. He is 1.84 meters tall and plays as a pitcher, with his dominant side being right-handed.

Like many other baseball players, Christian Muñiz began his love for the sport at a very young age in his hometown, participating in local teams and even having the opportunity to represent Chihuahua in regional and national tournaments. He stood out for his talent upon graduating from the Tarahumara Youth and Junior League, where he demonstrated his great potential.

His development took place at the Pacific Academy in Mazatlán, where he participated in the Prospects League and stood out as a hard-throwing pitcher with a strong presence on the mound. This led to him being signed in 2023 by the Yucatan Lions in the Mexican Baseball League through the Baseball Prospects Academy (BPA).

His work and talent led him to be hired by a Major League team

Christian Muñiz never gave up and continued with his good performance in lower categories and tournaments in Chihuahua against rivals from neighboring states. The Dodgers had already set their sights on him during 2022 when the young man was participating in a macro-regional event (prior to the Conade National Games).

From that moment, he remained on the radar of the Los Angeles team, who even invited him to train for several weeks at the minor league affiliate they have in the Dominican Republic that same year. They continued to monitor him closely as they saw great potential in the player from Chihuahua that could be developed very well.

Finally, in 2024, through the BPA, the Dodgers directly pursued Christian Muñiz, informing him of their interest and ultimately finalizing the official signing of his contract with this team. Present at the signing were Juvenal Soto (Los Angeles scout representative) and Ramón Carrasco (head teacher of the Baseball Professional Academy), as well as the pitcher’s close family.
