The MTV EMAs 2024 thrilled audiences worldwide, with Peso Pluma taking home the award for Best Latin Artist.

This marked Hassan Emilio’s—better known as Peso Pluma—first time attending the MTV EMAs (Europe Music Awards), held this year in Manchester. At just 25 years old, the Jalisco native has achieved what few Mexican artists have: conquering international stages and claiming the Best Latin Artist award.
Held on Sunday at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena, Peso Pluma walked the red carpet in a sleek black suit and dark sunglasses. Later, he took to the stage, exclaiming, “¡Arriba los corridos, arriba México!” before performing his hit “Hollywood” alongside Estevan Plazola. The track has sparked controversy for its bold line, “Look at the president, another one for the list of corrupt ones.”
During his acceptance speech, visibly emotional and speaking in simple English, he dedicated the award to his team and fans around the globe:
“This award is not for me; it’s for everyone who believed in me. ¡Viva México!”
Who Were the Other Nominees for Best Latin Artist at the MTV EMAs?
Peso Pluma beat out tough competition, including:
- Anitta
- Shakira
- Bad Bunny
- Karol G
- Rauw Alejandro
During the ceremony, Peso Pluma also took a moment to address his fans and team. In a brief but heartfelt speech, he greeted the British audience with a cheerful “Hola UK,” expressing gratitude to his producer and close friend, whom he called his “brother.” He emphasized that the award was not just a personal victory but a testament to the collective effort of his entire team.
The stage set for Peso Pluma’s performance featured two giant “P” letters, a nod to his iconic moniker. Another standout from Mexico was the band The Warning, made up of the Villarreal sisters, who also represented their country with pride. The trio turned heads on the red carpet with coordinated dark ensembles.
British Talent Shines Too on MTV EMAs
British artists had their moment in the spotlight as well. Raye was crowned Best UK Artist, while rock legend Liam Gallagher, frontman of Oasis, was honored as Best Rock Artist. Meanwhile, Calvin Harris took home the award for Best Electronic Artist.
The 2024 MTV EMAs, held on November 10, marked the triumphant return of the event after the cancellation of the 2023 edition in Paris due to conflicts in the Middle East. According to EFE, this year’s ceremony in Manchester not only celebrated music and talent but also symbolized resilience and continuity in the entertainment world after a year of disruptions.
