Seventeen-year-old pitcher Andrés Luna, a rising star in Mexican baseball, has officially signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Originally from Culiacán, Sinaloa, Luna will join the team’s minor league system, aiming to showcase his talent and earn a spot in the Major Leagues.

Mexico continues to export baseball talent to the Major Leagues, and Luna is the latest prospect to make the leap. After a rigorous three-year scouting process with the Cuervos League in Zapopan, the young pitcher now has the opportunity to develop his professional career within one of baseball’s most prestigious organizations.

During the signing ceremony, held at the Jalisco Government Palace, Luna expressed his excitement: “First and foremost, I’m incredibly happy. At first, I was in shock and couldn’t believe it, but then it turned into pure joy. My dream is to play in the Major Leagues, and I’ll keep working hard to make it happen.”

While signing with the Dodgers is a major milestone, Luna’s journey is just beginning. He will start his development in the Minor Leagues in the Dominican Republic, refining his skills before making his way to the United States.
“Scouts watched me play at several academies across Mexico, and that’s how I earned this opportunity. I’ll begin my training in the Dominican Republic and work my way up from there,” Luna explained.
Born in Culiacán and raised in Guadalajara, Andrés Luna has been passionate about baseball since he was three years old. He honed his skills with the Cuervos League in Zapopan, catching the attention of Dodgers scouts through his standout performances in youth tournaments. His talent and dedication led to this incredible opportunity with the Los Angeles organization.

A Step Toward the Major Leagues
Luna’s signing is part of the Dodgers’ growing recruitment efforts in Mexico, where they have discovered numerous promising players. Now, with his contract secured, the young pitcher is focused on advancing through the ranks and ultimately achieving his dream of playing in the MLB.
Additionally, Andrés Luna has signed a contract with the Toros de Tijuana in the Mexican Baseball League. This will allow him to gain experience in professional Mexican baseball before making the full transition to the U.S. leagues.
“In the future, I see myself playing with them. My dream is to win a championship ring. After my showcase, I got the call the very next day confirming my signing. I was in shock at first, but then I felt immense happiness,” Luna shared.

With a fastball reaching 92 mph and a pitching arsenal that includes a slider, sinker, curveball, and changeup, Luna is regarded as a highly promising prospect. His progress in the Minor Leagues will be crucial in determining when he makes the jump to the MLB.
