Following the allegations and controversy against him for alleged domestic violence in 2023, Julio Urías remains in the spotlight as he faces five misdemeanor charges stemming from said accusation.
Julio Urías’s career has been up and down, and then down again. He went from experiencing one of his best moments in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers to tarnishing his reputation due to off-field issues, which led to a decline in his professional career after his wife accused him of alleged domestic violence during 2023.
The TMZ Sports portal, one of the most prominent sources for news of this kind, revealed that Julio Urías faces five misdemeanor charges stemming from his arrest and the accusations made last year, and all will be read at the beginning of May, as stated by a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
What is Julio Urías accused of?
His arraignment is set for the first days of next month, with charges of spousal assault, two counts of domestic violence in a dating relationship, false imprisonment, and one more for assault. As they are misdemeanor offenses, experts in the field say that the maximum sentence for each is one year in prison. However, they also believe that Urías could avoid jail time altogether, instead doing community service, paying fines, and participating in counseling programs.
All the events occurred in September 2023, starting this legal process against him
Julio Urías had attended an LAFC game with his wife Daysi, and the police determined that the physical altercation occurred outside the BMO Stadium. He was taken into custody when one of the attendees at the venue reported the alleged assaults against his partner, as stated by the Exposition Park Department of Public Safety.
The Mexican baseball player ended up being released after posting bail of $50,000. The repercussions came later when Commissioner Rob Manfred and MLB placed him on administrative leave three days after the incident, so he remained inactive and never returned to the Dodgers.
