The Government of Durango inaugurated Vishay Corporation, one of the first semiconductor companies in the northern part of the country, which will initially offer around 500 well-paid jobs.
Durango has opened the door to the semiconductor industry with a new company that will operate in the Comarca Lagunera region, specifically in Gómez Palacio. This is Vishay Corporation, which with an investment of 45 million dollars will generate more than 500 jobs during the first months of operation.
This achievement is the result of the strong confidence placed by the international conglomerate in the region, which recognized in Durango all the conducive conditions for its growth and development.

During the inauguration of Vishay Corporation, Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal highlighted that the company will not only set a milestone as one of the first of its kind in the area, but it will also bring the possibility of offering well-paid jobs, thanks to the highly skilled workforce available in the region.
Vishay Corporation will meet the expectations of the population.
Villegas Villarreal also mentioned that they have their hopes set on this region of Durango, and that thanks to this new employment center, the image of La Laguna will change in a positive way.
“We will be able to fulfill the expectations that people had when we entered the Government, we are going to do very well, the recent trip we made to China will bring great results for the entire state,” commented the governor during the presentation.
He also mentioned that they have the support of various entrepreneurs and the Federal Government, and that they have closed agreements with another company in Lerdo, two in Mapimí, and Tlahualilo, so the job generation in the state will continue.
“We have to dream big. They told us that we wouldn’t achieve anything, that all governors have gone and haven’t brought anything back. I said, you’ll see. We didn’t go to fool around, we went to work hard, we didn’t stop. That’s what we were aiming for, and here is the first result,” he added.

During the event, Mike Husman, Senior Vice President of Vishay, expressed his gratitude for being part of this significant moment in the state’s history. During his speech at the event, Husman shared the company’s evolution in the market and emphasized the reason behind choosing Durango as the headquarters.
“We fell in love with La Laguna, with people who want to grow and are willing to follow us to start and then take us to a higher standard. They gave us the confidence that we chose the right team,” he recounted.
On her part, Leticia Herrera Ale, in her role as the mayor of the municipality of Gómez Palacio, highlighted the fundamental contribution of the governor as a key ally in the establishment of the newly inaugurated plant and in promoting progress in the region. His leadership has proven decisive in paving the way for new investment and development opportunities in the area.

Vishay Intertechnology Inc., a manufacturer of semiconductors and components for the automotive, telecommunications, and aerospace industries, will open its doors in the La Encantada Industrial Park in Gómez Palacio, Durango.
This new industrial complex has experienced rapid and noticeable growth in a very short time, and it is foreseen that in the coming years, it will become home to companies with greater international presence and industries that will enable the economic growth of the region.
